چکیده

We have studied the evolution of the shell structure of nuclei near the neutron drip line in the Relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (RHB) theory with the vector self-coupling of ω meson. The experimental data on the shell effects about the waiting-point nucleus 80 Zn are reproduced successfully. It is shown that the shell effects at N = 82 near the r-process path remain strong. A quenching exhibited by the HFB+SkP approach is shown not to be compatible with the available data.

Oblate stability of A É 110 nuclei near the r - process path

Even-even A'110 nuclei approaching the astrophysical r-process path have been investigated using both the cranked and the configuration-constrained shell models. The calculations show that, with increasing neutron number in the Z>40 nuclides, nuclear shapes evolve from prolate, through triaxial to oblate deformations. In contrast to other regions of the nuclear chart, pronounced oblate shapes d...

Near-Minimum-Time Motion Planning of Manipulators along Specified Path

The large amount of computation necessary for obtaining time optimal solution for moving a manipulator on specified path has made it impossible to introduce an on line time optimal control algorithm. Most of this computational burden is due to calculation of switching points. In this paper a learning algorithm is proposed for finding the switching points. The method, which can be used for both ...

Postbuckling Equilibrium Path of a Long Thin-Walled Cylindrical Shell (Single-Walled Carbon Nanotube) under Axial Compression Using Energy Method

In this paper, an elastic shell model is presented for postbuckling prediction of a long thinwalledcylindrical shell under axial compression. The Ritz method is applied to solve the governingequilibrium equation of a cylindrical shell model based on the von-Karman type nonlinear differentialequations. The postbuckling equilibrium path is obtained using the energy method for a long thin-walledcy...

Results from Shell Model Monte Carlo Studies

We review results obtained using Shell Model Monte Carlo (SMMC) techniques. These methods reduce the imaginary-time many-body evolution operator to a coherent superposition of onebody evolutions in fluctuating one-body fields; the resultant path integral is evaluated stochastically. After a brief review of the methods, we discuss a variety of nuclear physics applications. These include studies ...

Systematic Study of Shell Effect near Drip-lines

Variation of nuclear shell effects with nucleon numbers are evaluated using the modified Bethe-Weizsäcker mass formula (BWM) and the measured atomic masses. The shell effects at magic neutron numbers N=8, 20, 28, 50, 82 and 126 and magic proton numbers Z=8, 20, 28,50 and 82 are found to vary rapidly approaching the drip lines. The shell effect increases when approaches another magic number. Thu...
